Mo-Zyme™ supplies a supplemental source of molybdenum (Mo), as a whole food, phytochemically bound vegetable culture form. Mo is an essential trace element, and plays an important role in human life as a co-factor for several enzymes, such as sulfite oxidase, which converts sulfite to sulfate. Although Mo deficiency is rare, deficiency may result in toxicity due to the decreased activity of enzymes requiring molybdenum, particularly the sulfite reductase enzyme. Molybdenum co-factor deficiency may also lead to a decrease in the activity of molybdenum enzymes.
