Lipothiamine by Cardiovascular Research, now formulated as an enterically coated micro-tablet, contains 50mg TTFD (thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) combined with 7.5mg of alpha-lipoic acid. TTFD, the only truly lipid soluble thiamine disulfide derivative, has a different mechanism of action and different pharmacological properties than all thiamine derivatives studied later. While other thiamine derivatives share TTFDs property of easily diffusing through plasma membranes, strongly increasing thiamine levels in blood and liver, only TTFD also increases thiamine levels in the brain. TTFD is distinguished by its disulfide bond, which facilitates the penetration of the thiamine moiety into the cell where it builds up high concentrations of thiamine pyrophosphate at triphosphate, the active forms of Vitamin B1.
Lipothiamine is a scientifically designed food supplement and represents the biologically-active form of vitamin B1.
Take ore or two tablets daily, or as directed by a physician. These tablets should be swallowed intact and not be chewed.
